Staircase... You're Slacking
Challenge
Tripping and slipping are two of many things you don’t want your front staircase to do. Over time staircases tend to shift, and the concrete tends to lower in sections, revealing tripping hazards. This front staircase landing in Hamilton, Ontario, was problematic for various reasons. For starters, the slopping bottom slab creates a tripping risk alongside the already levelled driveway which actually caused a child to trip last autumn when trick-or-treating. Secondly, during the winter/wet months forms a slipping hazard. The homeowners were undergoing renovations in the home. They wanted to fix this problem to alleviate stress from the contractors coming and going and not have to worry about the concrete sinking even further.
Solution
They wanted to save money for their renovations and did not want to spend the extra money to pour more concrete. In order to save their budget for their renovations and keep the good condition concrete that is already there, they would need a company to lift the concrete. Canadian Concrete Leveling came up with their specific google search, and appointments were made. Our two-step process is that we provide a free estimate by sending out one of our Project Managers, and once the quote is made, we dispatch our installation team to complete the work.
Our Project Manager, Matt Ruskin, arrived onsite to provide a schematic and honest quote to the homeowners to be within their budget. Our Installation Supervisor, Kyle McKeown, arrived on a later day to complete the work. Thankfully the work can not only be completed on the same day but in less than an hour. The concrete slab will be lifted using our polyurethane which Is highly dense and quick expanding. This lightweight and durable polyurethane injection method fills any voids underneath the concrete and permanently pushes it up to its original state. Kyle proceeded by drilling small dime-sized injections into the lowest points of the uneven slab and attached small nozzles which the injection gun will be attaching to later. After unravelling the hose from the truck, he started injecting all the incisions with our PolyLevel® polyurethane. Within seconds, the slab pushed up to its original position which stunned our clients, and the job was done in no time! Our work is very minimally invasive, and the clean-up is immaculate. The staircase is looking proper, and the slacking is non-existent.
