Photo Album: Failing Loading Dock Threatens Business in Whitby, Ontario
Loading docks are a vital part of many businesses. They’re used almost daily, and without them, a business can suffer.
A business owner in Whitby, Ontario, reached out to us for help with a concrete loading dock. There was a huge void beneath the dock, and water would constantly pool and freeze. The almost constant pressure from loading weight, combined with the void, caused the loading dock to crack and settle in several spots. The worst spot was directly in front of the doors that customers used for entry. Water would also pool and freeze in front of the door, and it was only a matter of time until someone fell.
Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the business owner and showed him our PolyLevel® concrete leveling solution. He was thrilled to see an option that didn’t cost tens of thousands of dollars and he eagerly booked a date for the repair.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the loading dock. He injected our high-density polyurethane beneath the dock to both fill the void and lift the concrete back to an even grade. We also injected from the side to ensure to void was filled completely.
The customer is thrilled with the final work. His customers can walk to the door safely again, and his loading dock isn’t going to fail at any time.
