Photo Album: Large Section of Concrete Walkway Sinks in Pickering, Ontario
There’s one thing that every homeowner has to deal with: Maintenance. Without keeping up and maintaining our home, things can quickly go into disrepair or become a safety hazard.
A customer in Pickering, Ontario, knew that his concrete needed some help. He didn’t know how to fix the problem himself but was concerned about someone getting hurt. Several of his concrete slabs had settled, leading to some severe tripping hazards. He knew the problem was only getting worse and wanted to repair it before it was too far gone.
Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the concerned homeowner. After showing the customer how our PolyLevel® and NexusPro® Systems work, Kyle put his worries to rest. The customer was blown away by how efficient our system is and loved the fact it wouldn’t cause too much disruption to his home.
Foreman Mark Sealy started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete where our injection ports are mounted. As the high-density polyurethane is injected, it expands, compressing any loose material beneath the concrete and lifting the slab. Once the concrete was back to an even grade, Mark sealed any cracks and seams with our UV-resistant sealant.
The customer still can’t believe that all of his concrete was repaired in less than a day’s work. He only checked in with our crew once, and the next thing he knew, we were all finished, giving him a simple experience and peace of mind.
Settlement
Gaps beneath the concrete allow for the slabs to sink over time due to the lack of support
Front Steps Before
Water was pooling in this location due to the incline, and the raised step was a tripping hazard
Cracking
As concrete sinks, the pressures can often cause cracks to form in the slabs
NexusPro®
This flexible, waterproof sealant keeps water and debris from getting into cracks and seams
Front Steps After
After Mark lifted the bottom step back to grade, he sealed the seam where the concrete cracked
Driveway After
Heavy weight from vehicles can take a toll on concrete, but after lifting and stabilizing the concrete the customer can use the driveway without worry
