Photo Album: Front Steps Sink Out of Code in Richmond Hill, Ontario

There’s a reason building codes exist. They’re put in place to help builders ensure properties are safe, so there are no surprises when a customer purchases a home. A customer in Richmond Hill, Ontario, reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling after noticing something wrong with her front steps. The concrete slab at the bottom had settled significantly and she was concerned about someone possibly tripping. Project Manager Joe McColl inspected the concrete and quickly realized that it was no longer to code. The customer wasn’t surprised and expressed her concern about spending thousands on redoing the steps. Joe quickly put her mind at ease by explaining how our non-invasive PolyLevel® System works.  PolyLevel® makes its way to the failing concrete through a 300-ft hose. This way, we avoid using heavy machinery. The high-density polyurethane is injected beneath the concrete, where it expands, lifting the slab and compressing fill soils below.  Foreman Bill McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes as injection ports in the concrete. Once the steps were lifted back to a safe height and code, Bill patched the holes with fresh concrete.  The customer and her family are ecstatic that their steps are safe again. They didn’t need to spend a ton of money having new steps installed, and there was little disruption to their home for the repair.
