Photo Album: Failing Concrete Takes Away from Beautiful Backyard in Etobicoke, Ontario
We all take pride in our homes and have our favourite spots. For some, it’s the kitchen or living room, and it’s all about the exterior for others.
A customer in Etobicoke, Ontario, takes great pride in his home with a focus on his backyard. Everything was well-manicured, but sinking concrete was taking away from the beautiful look. His front steps had settled significantly to one side, and cracks were running through the back patio. The client was concerned someone would trip and fall and what damage water would do as it seeped through the cracks.
Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the homeowner and completed a thorough inspection of the concrete. Kyle explained how our PolyLevel® System could lift and level the slabs using expanding high-density polyurethane. He also showed him our NexusPro® Sealant, which is UV-resistant and waterproof.
Foreman Bill McKeown used our PolyLevel® System to lift the front steps back to grade. Bill headed to the backyard with the front complete to seal the cracks with our NexusPro® Sealant System.
The customer is very pleased to have all the repairs fixed without a full replacement cost and hassle. His backyard looks excellent once again, and his front steps are safe for anyone to use.
Sinking Steps
The front steps had settled towards the garage, creating a tripping hazard and causing water to pool
Failed Repair
A store-bought sealant had already been applied previously, but it failed to solve the problem
Cracking Before
When concrete shifts, the stress and weight can cause the slab to crack
Cracking After
We sealed the cracks with our UV-resistant sealant to prevent water and debris from getting beneath the slab
Separation
When the front steps settled, they actually pull away from the garage foundation wall
