Photo Album: New Backyard Interlock Leads to Concrete Repair in Mississauga, Ontario
Sometimes, completing one repair leads to another. You don't want to invest in one job if there are others needing work too, so you end up doing both simultaneously.
In Mississauga, Ontario, a homeowner reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling to prepare for a backyard makeover. The customer was having new interlock installed, but he thought his sinking pool deck would bring down the look of the yard. His family was also tired of dealing with tripping hazards and pooling water.
Project Manager Kyle O'Brien met with the homeowner and inspected his backyard. Kyle determined that fill soil installed during construction of the pool deck settled and washed away, leading to the sinking slabs. He explained how our PolyLevel® System uses expanding polyurethane injections to lift the slab while stabilizing the substrate below.
Foreman Bill McKeown started by drilling several dime-sized holes through the pool deck. As Bill injects our two-part polyurethane through the ports, the mixture expands to lift the concrete. Once the repair is complete, Bill patched the holes with fresh concrete.
The customer is thrilled that his pool deck is repaired. His family doesn't have to worry about tripping during pool parties, and their backyard will look that much better after the interlock goes in.
Pool Deck Before
Hazards like this raised edge were causing trips and stubbed toes during the summer pool months
Pool Deck After
We lifted the sinking slab using our high-density polyurethane, preventing any further washouts or settlement
Hazards
Uneven sinking led to uneven trip hazards
Pooling
Several slabs had settled and were leaning away from the pool towards the interlock, not allowing water to drain
Safe Surface
We lifted the pooling slabs back to grade while ensuring proper drainage
