Photo Album: Sinking Pool Deck Leaves Homeowner Worried in Ajax, Ontario
Having a pool is a great asset for a home to have. It gives us a place to relax with friends and family without travelling and increases the value of your home. But when your pool goes from a relaxing oasis to a worrisome hazard, it leaves you wishing it wasn’t there.
A customer in Ajax, Ontario, reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling after growing fed up with their pool deck. The concrete had severely cracked in a few spots, and sinking caused uneven sloping and trip hazards. In addition, the look of the backyard was stressing the customer out, and he was constantly concerned about his kids getting hurt.
Director of Sales Matt McCullough met with the client and completed a thorough inspection of the backyard. The customer was concerned about the potential cost but was happy to hear about our cost-effective, minimally-invasive solution.
Matt explained how our expert Foremen use high-density polyurethane injections, PolyLevel®, to lift sinking concrete while filling voids below. The customer was looking forward to a repaired pool and booked an installation date as soon as possible. Foreman Bill McKeown used dime-sized holes where injection ports were placed to repair the concrete. Then, with the slabs lifted, he patched the holes with fresh concrete.
The customer is thrilled with the repair and the associated the cost. He knows the hazards are fixed for good and the risk of injury is gone.
Hazards
The large gaps between the slabs are also where the concrete had settled, creating the hazard
Voids
Typically, empty spaces beneath the concrete allow the slabs to sink into the void
Lift
This area of patterned concrete was lifted back to the original level next to the fence to ensure proper drainage
Cracking
As concrete shifts, the stress causes cracks, and in this case, these cracks turned into trip hazards
Helper
Matt had the customer's dog join him for the inspection
Level
With the pool deck level, the customer's worries have been put to rest
