Costco Uh-Oh Sale
Challenge
Costco Wholesale, what a fun place to get your bang for your buck! Costco locations all around Ontario have excellent deals, products, open parking lots, and plenty of space around them. Unfortunately, in East Gwillimbury, Ontario, this Costco had many tripping hazards afoot. From walkways to parking medians, the concrete around the Costco was full of sinking concrete liabilities. The sinking concrete was in excellent condition and needed to be leveled back to its original state. The property manager of this store was concerned that many customers would trip and hurt themselves before even getting inside to shop or even trip with groceries on hand. The problem needed to be fixed before more "Uh-Oh's" occurred.
Solution
The Property Manager researched companies that could lift concrete without having to replace it, and have efficient, same-day installation. Canadian Concrete Leveling was at the top of the list, making it a no-brainer to reach out to us. After contacting CCL and scheduling an appointment with our Director of Sales, Matt McCullough arrived on site to give a comprehensive quote that would fix the concrete without disrupting the busy foot traffic typically found at Costco.
On installation day our production team, Bill McKeown and Pedro arrived to lift this Costco property back up to its regular self. The inner walkways were tackled first to get the process settled before the traffic started rolling in. Bill and Pedro were lifting the concrete with our PolyLevel® Injection system. PolyLevel® is made from high-density polyurethane – it is lightweight, durable, and quickly expands under the concrete. Our procedure consists of drilling dime-sized holes in the lowest points of the concrete and injecting all of them with PolyLevel®. Then the voids underneath begin to fill up, stabilize and lift the concrete to the necessary height. The process takes a couple of minutes, and curing time is very quick, which beats other leveling methods.
Once the inner walkways were leveled, the outside walkways were tackled, leaving the main parking lot clear for the shopping foot traffic. With the installation only taking place in one day, the risk of liabilities and loss of business was at a minimum. Costco employees and regular customers were pleased the tripping dangers were eliminated. The Uh-Ohs were no more!
