PolyLevel Slab Lift
Challenge
The homeowner’s front walkway had settled and was causing a trip hazard when their friends would come over to visit. It was also causing water to drain towards their house because of the angle of the slab. Replacing the slab by jack hammering up the existing slab and re-pouring new concrete would be too costly.
Solution
Canadian Concrete Leveling proposed a polyurethane injection system, PolyLevel, to provide an economical, quick and effective solution to lift the homeowner's walkway. PolyLevel is a two-part urethane that when combined expands into a rigid foam used to fill voids, stabilize slabs and lift concrete. Once injected through small, dime-sized drilled "ports" in a slab, a chemical process converts the urethane product into a strong, rapidly-setting material. PolyLevel is light, weighing two to six pounds per cubic-foot (pcf). Other void-filling or lifting materials can weigh upwards of 120 pcf, adding a significant burden to the supporting base material beneath the slab, and potentially contributing to further settlement issues. With a compressive strength of 10,800 pounds per square foot, PolyLevel has the strength to support even the most demanding residential loads.
For this job, Canadian Concrete Leveling lifted the slab to within 1/4" of its original position. The entire job was completed in less than half a day with PolyLevel's quick set-time, the homeowner was able to walk on the slab 20 minutes after installation. The PolyLevel solution is an environmentally friendly, clean, efficient, long-lasting and economical alternative to traditional concrete repair options both inside and outside homes.
