Challenge

A 50' x 80' section of rink pad settled up to 4" at its worst. Maintenance workers had to use that much more water to make up the deflection incurring unwanted and higher water bills. Concrete for the pad was donated so there were no ripping and re-pouring. On top of that, there are cooling lines filled with brine in the pad itself.

Solution

Canadian Concrete Leveling employed a company to locate the lines in the pad using the latest technology available. Once the lines were located, Canadian Concrete Leveling strategically drilled dime-sized holes on a 4' on-centre grid pattern. CCL then injected its high-density, 2.5lb hydrophobic polymers to lift the pad back to its original plane without damaging the cooling lines. Once lift was complete, voids were filled and the pad was stabilized preventing future settlement. All 5/8" holes were sealed with non-shrink cementitious grout.
