Tripping Hazards on Patio Driveway Cause Snow Removal Woes in Thornhill, Ontario
Challenge
It’s a truly Canadian experience, but not an enjoyable one. You’re pushing your shovel along the driveway, clearing off that day’s dumping of snow, when all of a sudden, your shovel stops. You end up leaning over the shovel as it hits you in the stomach, jarring itself on an uneven driveway. We’ve all been there, but it seems to be just as frustrating no matter how many times it happens. Snow clearing is an essential part of day to day life in Canadian winters, and it’s inconvenient when something makes your job of clearing even harder. Especially when you’re tripping on hazards you can’t see beneath the snow.
A customer in Thornhill, Ontario, was tired of his driveway causing problems. The driveway is made up of a collection of beautiful patio stones, but settling concrete beneath caused the stones to sink and shift. This created a tripping hazard in an area the customer uses daily and made snow removal even more annoying than it already is.
Solution
Tired of the issues, he reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling after discovering us in a neighbourhood magazine. Project Manager Joe McColl met with the customer at his home and inspected his driveway, along with his side walkway. Joe explained how our PolyLevel® Injection System could remove his tripping hazards, and our NexusPro® Sealant could prevent moisture from getting between his walkway and brick siding.
Foreman Bill McKeown and Installation Specialist Mark Sealy worked hard injecting PolyLevel® throughout different spots on the driveway. Not only does PolyLevel® lift, but it compresses soils and fills voids to ensure no more settlement will take place. They sealed the walkway crack using NexusPro®, giving it a finished look that will protect the concrete for many years.
The customer is delighted that the tripping hazards have been removed. He can shovel in peace once again, and his side walkway is protected from the harsh elements.
