Sloped Concrete Walkway Threatens Foundation in Toronto, Ontario
Challenge
Keeping her home protected from the elements is essential. Most of our exterior features are designed with this in mind, but sometimes they start to fail over time.
A customer in Toronto, Ontario, called Canadian Concrete Leveling to take a look at her sinking walkway. The concrete was sloping towards the home’s foundation, and the risk of water seepage was growing worse each year.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the homeowner and completed a thorough inspection of the property. Paul showed the customer how we could use our PolyLevel® solution to lift and level the concrete, and she was eager to set up an installation date.
Solution
Project Manager Bill McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in strategic locations throughout the concrete. Using these, he injected our high-density polyurethane beneath the concrete. From there, it expands, both lifting the slabs and compressing the fill soils below. Once the concrete was back to an even grade, Bill patched the holes with fresh concrete.
The customer is very happy that she finally has some peace of mind for her basement and is looking forward to many years of level concrete.
