Large Void Causes Concrete Floor to Crack in Pontypool, Ontario
Challenge
Concrete is an excellent tool used in many different construction techniques. But often there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface that meets the eye.
A customer in Pontypool, Ontario, reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling to deal with a cracked garage floor. The homeowner noticed the cracking was getting worse each year, so he decided to do something about it before it was too late.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the customer at his home and inspected the garage. Paul discovered a large void beneath the concrete and showed the customer how our PolyLevel® System could fill the void and stabilize the soils below.
Solution
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in several strategic locations. He used these holes as injection ports for our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane. As the polyurethane is injected, it expands, stabilizing the concrete floor and compressing fill soils.
The customer can’t believe his garage was repaired so efficiently. He thought the old concrete would need to be excavated but was happy to find a non-invasive alternative.
