Brand-New Factory Floor Sinks in Scarborough, Ontario
Challenge
Warehouses run like a well-oiled machine. There is equipment moving back and forth at all times – efficiency is a top priority.
A builder in Scarborough, Ontario, called Canadian Concrete Leveling after finishing a new warehouse. The factory was already dealing with sinking concrete, even though it was a brand-new warehouse. Every time a forklift tried to navigate over the raised edges, the skid would catch and jar the entire machine.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the builder and inspected the factory floor. Paul explained how voids could form due to bad fill materials. He walked the customer through our PolyLevel® System and he was happy to hear about our non-invasive method. He was concerned machinery would have to be removed to pour a new floor, so our solution was the perfect fit for his needs.
Solution
Foreman Kyle McKeown started by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. He used these holes as injection ports for our high-density polyurethane. As the solution is injected, it expands, lifting the slab and compressing loose soils below. PolyLevel® is 10% of the weight of other methods and won’t break down from water and daily use. Once Kyle completed the lift, he patched the holes with fresh concrete. For added protection, the customer chose to seal the concrete with our NexusPro® Sealant System. This product seals out water and debris from the floor seams.
The builder is thrilled with the work done by Canadian Concrete Leveling. We solved his issue in a day’s work and saved him the headache of closing down the factory.
