Backyard Reno on Hold Due to Sinking Concrete in Markham, Ontario
Challenge
There are a ton of different styles you can spin in your backyard. Some like a more natural landscape, while others look for a useable patio space.
A customer in Markham, Ontario, was in the process of having interlock installed throughout their backyard. They were excited about their backyard's new look but wanted to fix their sinking concrete beforehand.
Project Manager Kyle O'Brien met with the homeowner and inspected the concrete. Kyle determined that voids beneath the slabs had caused the patio to sink. The customer wanted a simple solution, and after seeing a demonstration video, he knew he had found just that. Kyle showed him how PolyLevel® expands beneath the concrete to lift it while compressing soils below.
Solution
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface to use as injection ports. PolyLevel® is injected as two separate solutions that mix and expand below the concrete. As the product expands, it lifts the slab. Kyle worked hard to bring the patio back to a level grade while ensuring water would drain away from home. Once the repair was completed, Kyle patched the injection holes with fresh concrete.
The client is very happy with the work done by the Canadian Concrete Leveling team. He's glad he found a simple, non-invasive solution, and he can't wait to see how it looks with interlock.
