Sinking Walkway Threatens Foundation in Aurora, Ontario
Challenge
Water can find a way through almost every crack or seam. It creeps its way through and can sometimes cause some serious issues.
A customer in Aurora, Ontario, was dealing with a sinking concrete step outside of his home. Water was continually pooling and freezing, and he was concerned about the risk of water seepage.
The client decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling after hearing about our solution through an Instagram ad. Project Manager Joe McColl met with the homeowner and inspected his walkway.
Solution
Joe determined that poor fill soils likely eroded over time, creating a large gap beneath the walkway. He explained how our PolyLevel® System uses high-density polyurethane injections to lift the concrete back to grade.
Foreman Bill McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. Bill used these injection ports for our PolyLevel® System. As the solution expands, it fills any gaps beneath the surface while compressing fill soils below. Once the void is filled, the polymers expand upward to lift the slab back to an even grade.
The customer is thrilled with the repair completed. He can barely tell that we were ever there, other than the protected foundation.
