Sinking Patio Threatens Home's Foundation in Vaughan, Ontario
Challenge
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is something that holds true with home renovations.
A customer in Vaughan, Ontario, was growing tired of dealing with sinking concrete in his backyard. Several slabs had settled towards the foundation, and he knew it was a matter of time before water was seeping into his basement.
Tired of brushing water away after each rainfall, the client called Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Kyle O’Brien. Kyle inspected the patio and explained how we could repair the settlement using our high-density polyurethane system, PolyLevel®. As PolyLevel® is injected, it expands beneath the concrete, compressing fill soil and lifting the slab.
Solution
Foreman Bill McKeown started by drilling a couple of dime-sized holes to use as injection ports. PolyLevel® is installed as a liquid, but as the two polymers mix, they expand. Once the repair was complete, Bill patched the injection holes with fresh concrete.
The client is blown away by the efficiency and care provided by the Canadian Concrete Leveling team. They could walk on the surface the same day as the repair and are looking forward to a stress-free rainstorm.
