Customer Losing Hope in Failing Pool Deck in Markham, Ontario
Challenge
A pool is only as good as the deck surrounding it. Failing concrete can compromise the coping and liner surrounding the edge, and trip hazards make it an unsafe area.
A customer in Markham, Ontario, was tired of dealing with a dangerous pool deck. The concrete was deteriorating to the point where it was almost unusable. Ready for a change, the customer reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling.
Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the customer and inspected the pool deck and backyard. Kyle explained how when concrete is poured, the fill materials below play a vital role in its longevity. As water washed away the poorly packed soil beneath the customer’s concrete, the slabs above started to sink.
Solution
The customer expressed his concerns about ripping up old concrete or having heavy machinery in his backyard. Kyle understood and walked the customer through our PolyLevel® System. PolyLevel® uses high-density polyurethane injections to lift sinking concrete while compressing fill substrates below. Relieved, the client booked a date for the repair.
Foreman Kyle McKeown used dime-sized holes as injection ports for the repair. As the two-part polyurethane mixes, it expands, lifting the concrete and filling any surrounding voids. Once the repair was complete, Kyle patched the injection holes with fresh concrete.
The customer is blown away by the finished work. He never thought he could repair his pool deck without removing old concrete and is looking forward to a safe pool season.
