Tripping Mayhem
Challenge
Tripping hazards on many people's properties. Some homeowners tend to adjust to them and then forget them until they stumble on them again. This home had a driveway composed of 4 large concrete slabs. One of the slabs was sinking substantially over the rest, which made the homeowners worry they might trip over it, or the car might get stuck in the wintertime. To prevent potential injury, this needed to be levelled out soon. That’s when they reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling.
Solution
Our Project Manager, Danny Dos Santos, was called to the home to see what products he could use to lift the concrete back to normal. The good news was that the slab was immaculate, so there was no need to replace it, which can be costly. Instead, two PolyLevel® injections would be made to the centre and top of the slab to fill any voids underneath.
Later that week, Installation Specialist, Bill McKeown, set up the truck and ran the hose over to the sinking slab. Inside, the hose holds the polyurethane that will lift the concrete. Small dime-sized holes were then made. Once the rig was hooked up, the PolyLevel® was pumped in, lifting the slab within seconds. On the driveway, Bill noticed that there were holes from mud jacking. The homeowner said that they tried a mud jacking method but it didn’t hold up the driveway slabs and brought them back down, leaving them uneven in all different positions. Initially, the job was supposed to be only two injections on one slab. Three more PolyLevel® injections were made to the driveway to match the leveled slab. The process was done with ease which baffled the homeowners. With the process happening so fast, the owners were excited to use the driveway immediately, even with the additional work. The significant part about PolyLevel® is that it fills the voids underneath, lifts the concrete to its original position, and cures almost instantly! Adios, tripping hazards!
