Inaccessible Garage
Challenge
Make all your entrances to your home accessible, including your garage. Cars going in and out of the garage can add a lot of weight to your driveway, which may allow it to shift and sink over the years. This relatively new home in Wellesley, Ontario, had a commonly used garage and side entrance with sinking concrete slabs, making it challenging to use either entryway. In addition, the garage side entrance had a substantial drop-off from the door to the outside slabs, making it vulnerable to tripping hazards, especially in the late hours when visibility is at bay. As for the garage, the driveway was sinking, leaving it a hard time toe tin and out. In addition, the lip in the threshold made the vehicles accelerate to get over and resulted in them coming into the garage at a faster speed. Leaving with such a threshold was difficult, especially in the winter when the ice started to form; when the car would reverse out, it would add speed, making it a traction issue going down the driveway. This had to be resolved so the homeowners don't have to worry about tripping hazards.
Solution
Canadian Concrete Leveling was their first choice when trying to level their concrete and not having to get a new driveway and walkway. The great thing about CCL is that we give permanent fixes that don't sink. Mud jacking is a process we refuse to use since it is a messy, unreliable method that won't last long down the road. Instead, we use a high-density, lightweight polyurethane for our levelling that will lift any concrete surface within seconds and last a lifetime. After finding CCL to do the work, our project manager Andy Moncrieff arrived at the home to discuss how the process works. Our Project Managers arrive at the house, pull up a schematic of where the work will be done, give a timeframe on how long it will take, and guarantee the homeowners will have a levelled surface like it was when they first bought the home.
On a later day, our installation team, Kyle McKeown and Russell, arrived to complete the work. They proceeded with the polyurethane injections and applied them to the lowest points. The concrete then lifts within seconds to the levelled height. Our process only requires one hose and a few dime-sized holes, allowing the homeowners to leave or come as they go and not disrupt the foot traffic. Once the injections are made, the curing process takes less than an hour, and the concrete is useable. To ensure the concrete is protected and nothing gets in the joints, we then use a sealant to increase the linespace of our work. This sealant, known as NexusPro®, is malleable, water-resistant, and never deteriorates from sun or chemicals. Finally, the joints are carefully sealed off, and the driveway and walkway are brand new!
The owners witnessed the process and were taken back by how fast and immaculate the job looked. They were left at ease when they could now use the entrances without any hassle. From inaccessible to accessible in less than one hour!
