Helical Tiebacks Save Garage Wall, Uxbridge, ON
Challenge
Challenge:
A home in Uxbridge, Ontario, had a garage wall leaning outward towards the backyard. The homeowners were troubled that the wall's structural integrity would give out and the wall would collapse. Being proactive, the homeowners contacted Clarke Basement Systems since we deal with wall supports. We scheduled our most experienced System Design Specialist, Chris Luke, to diagnose the issues at hand.
Solution
Solution:
Chris suggested 4 helical tiebacks to support the wall. He also included our PolyLevel® Injection System to fill in potential voids from the dugouts made for the tiebacks. The homeowners were excited about Chris' proposal and gave him the green light for our teams to get to work. The best approach was to access the garage wall from the backyard. Since the home's lawn went down on a slope, the garage floor was accessible from a more manageable height. The Helical Tie-backs, installed by Shane O'Rourke, are essential wall anchors that start from the undersoil and help make the wall straight again. Since the undersoil was being opened up after the helical tie-backs were installed, our Installation Foreman Bill McKeown, used our PolyLevel® system to inject our high-density, quick-expanding polyurethane to fill in the voids efficiently. The project was done with ease thanks to the collaboration from both teams. Everything was done in a timely manner, and now the homeowners can install their backyard pool in the space we were working in. Summer is in full effect from now on!
