House is Splitting in Half! Rockwood ON
Challenge
Challenge
In Rockwood, Ontario, a home had experienced foundation settlement, causing the walls to split apart from the ceiling. The homeowners were living not knowing if the house would collapse, so to relieve their stress and sleepless nights, they reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling. We assigned Project Manager Tim Rector to our new clients to investigate the problem. Tim recommended our PolyLevel® injection system, which is composed of a high-density polyurethane that transforms from a temperature-controlled liquid to a solid that doubles its size. The benefits of this material are that it is non-toxic to the environment, expands within the undersoil to fill every void, is hydrophobic, is long-lasting, and is lightweight.
Solution
Solution
With the help of our Installation Supervisor, Kyle McKeown, and his crew, we tackled this job effectively. When one person was drilling dime-sized holes into the concrete to fit our PolyLevel® system, Kyle followed immediately behind, injecting the material. The efficiency was unmatched; before you knew it, the walls sat flush with the floor above. The problem the homeowners had was the earth shifting. The shift caused the basement floor to travel with it, as the rest of the home stayed put, resulting in wall cracks in the middle and separation. Our outstanding warranty keeps you protected in the odd chance the settlement returns. The material is so sturdy that the homeowners could be in the home while the process was happening, and the polyurethane was curing beneath the house.
