Residential Photo Album: Sinking Concrete Pool Deck Threatens Grandkids in Whitby, Ontario
Many grandparents can’t wait until their grandkids come to visit. They want to share with the next generation and have some fun while they’re at it.
A customer in Whitby, Ontario, has a beautiful backyard with a pool. His grandchildren love to visit and go for a swim, but he was starting to grow concerned about their safety. His pool deck was sinking in several spots causing several tripping hazards. Looking for a permanent solution, he decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling.
Project Manager Paul Mendell travelled to the home and completed a thorough inspection of the pool deck. He showed the customer our innovative PolyLevel® repair techniques, and a date was set for the repair.
Foreman Kyle McKeown injected PolyLevel® beneath the slabs of concrete where it expands. This lifts the slab back to a level grade and compacts any substrate below, preventing the issue from returning. When the lift was complete, Kyle patched the injection holes with fresh concrete.
The customer is thrilled that his pool deck is repaired. He doesn’t have to worry about anyone tripping or stubbing their toes, and he can’t wait to let his grandkids back in the pool again.
Settlement
Some slabs had settled close to 2 inches
Tripping Hazards
Much of the pool deck was uneven and could cause someone to trip and fall
Liner
As the slabs settled, they pulled away from the edge of the pool, threatening the integrity of the liner
Injection Ports
These dime-sized holes are filled with fresh concrete and dusted to match the colour of the concrete once the dust is swept away
Pool Deck After
Water was no longer pooling between the slabs
Interlock
Kyle was even able to match the height of the concrete to the surrounding interlock
