Residential Photo Album: Sinking Pool Deck Leads to Stubbed Toes in Orillia, Ontario
No one enjoys stubbing their toe, but it happens to all of us. It hurts, and we walk it off, and then do what we can to prevent it from happening again.
A customer in Orillia, Ontario, was tired of dealing with tripping hazards around their pool. The concrete deck was sinking and shifting, leading to raised areas and pressure cracks. The homeowner decided to reach out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Paul Mendell.
Paul inspected the pool deck and explained to the client how we lift, level and seal concrete. He was thrilled to hear how we could save his pool deck, and a date was set for the repair.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete slabs. These holes are used as injection ports for our PolyLevel® solution. PolyLevel® is made up of two high-density polymers that mix and expand into a construction-grade polyurethane. Kyle injected in several locations to ensure an even lift before sealing the cracks with our NexusPro® Sealant.
The customer is ecstatic about his repaired pool deck. He doesn’t have to worry about stubbing his toe anymore and is very happy that he didn’t need to redo the concrete.
Tripping Hazard Before
We carefully lifted the slab around the shed's foundation
Tripping Hazard After
Leveling the concrete also ensures that the water doesn't drain into the shed foundation
Pool Deck Before
As the slabs settled, they pulled away from the liner of the pool
Pool Deck After
We compressed the fill soils below the slabs to prevent any further settlement down the road
Cracks Before
Cracks form when the concrete is under stress, but they make matters worse by allowing water to get underneath
Crack After
NexusPro® is resistant to harsh UV rays and keeps a watertight seal on the concrete
