Residential Photo Album: Sinking Pool Deck in Ramara, Ontario
There’s something about jumping in the pool on a hot summer day. Pools give us a place to have fun and relax while adding value to your home, but they require maintenance and upkeep.
A customer in Ramara, Ontario, had a beautiful backyard pool in front of the lake. The concrete patio was starting to show its age, and several cracks and tripping hazards had popped up. The homeowner wanted to redo the interlock around the pool, but their first step was to bring the concrete pool patio back to grade.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the customer and inspected his pool deck. As the concrete settled unevenly, it caused several stress cracks, and the concrete was actually separating from the edge of the pool liner.
Foreman Kyle McKeown worked hard lifting the concrete slabs back up to an even grade. Our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane was injected beneath the concrete where it expands, raising the slabs and compressing soils below.
The customer is thrilled that his pool deck is safe again. He can have the interlock redone without having to worry about the concrete failing.
Pool Deck Before
The sinking slabs led to numerous tripping hazards around the pool deck
Pool Deck After
When we inject our polyurethane it compresses the fill soils below to prevent any further settlement
Liner
The concrete was actually pulling away from the pool coping, threatening the integrity of the liner
Interlock
With the pool deck back to grade the next step for the customer is to have the interlock redone
