Residential Photo Album: Pool Deck Cracks and Sinks in Aurora, Ontario
There’s a lot more that goes into a backyard pool than just water. There’s the liner, pump, sometimes a heater, and the patio that surrounds everything.
A customer in Aurora, Ontario, called Canadian Concrete Leveling to deal with several cracks in her pool deck. The problem was getting worse each year, and the concrete slabs were actually sinking.
Project Manager Joe McColl met with the homeowner and inspected her pool deck. Joe explained what causes concrete to sink and what we can do to repair and prevent it.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes throughout the slabs. He injected our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane through these holes, which expands beneath to lift the concrete. This process also compresses fill soils to prevent the issue from returning. Since cracks were widespread throughout the pool deck, Kyle used our NexusPro® Sealant to seal the cracks and prevent moisture from seeping through.
The homeowner is delighted that her pool deck is repaired. She was afraid she would have to rip out the entire deck but is happy she found a cost-effective alternative.
Flaking
UV rays, weather and foot traffic took a toll on this slab and actually caused bits of the concrete to pit and flake off
Sealed
NexusPro® Sealant is UV resistant, giving your concrete a finished look while protecting at the same time
Sinking Concrete
As concrete cracked it also settled, causing water to pool in one spot rather than drain away
Concrete After
It's hard to tell that we injected high-density polyurethane beneath this slab of concrete to bring it back up to grade before sealing it
Pool Deck Before
Not only were the cracks allowing water to get below and wash away fill soils, but they also made the pool deck pretty unsightly as well
Pool Deck After
We lifted the concrete in numerous locations and sealed any cracks, removing any dangerous hazards and improving the aesthetic of the pool deck
