Residential Photo Album: Sinking Walkway and Driveway in Bowmanville, Ontario
Keeping your home safe is for more than just you and your family. You’re thinking about extended family members, friends and even delivery drivers.
In Bowmanville, Ontario, a customer reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling after growing concerned about his front walkway and driveway. The concrete steps had all sloped towards the garage wall, leading to water pooling and freezing every time the temperatures dropped. To make matters worse, the homeowner’s driveway had settled away from the garage entrance, making parking a tricky task.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the customer and inspected his walkway and driveway. Paul walked the homeowner through our PolyLevel® process and how it works before setting up a date for the repair.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in strategic locations throughout the walkway and driveway. Kyle used these holes as injection ports for our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane. Once injected, the polyurethane expands beneath the concrete, lifting the slab and compressing fill soils below.
The customer can’t believe that his concrete was repaired in only a day’s work. He wishes he called us sooner but is glad he made the right choice nonetheless.
Settlement
The driveway slabs had settled close to two inches
Driveway After
We brought the driveway slabs back up to grade with the garage floor
Driveway Before
The raised edge of the garage floor forced the customer to hit the gas as he entered the garage, which could lead to an accident
Steps After
We brought the steps back to an even grade to eliminate the risk of water pooling
Steps Before
Water would constantly pool next to the garage's brick wall
