Residential Photo Album: Voids Cause Pool Deck to Sink in Port Perry, Ontario
A beautiful backyard pool can help your home stand out in the neighbourhood. Pools make the perfect spot for gathering with friends and family, but only if the pool and surrounding areas are safe.
A couple in Port Perry, Ontario, reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling to inquire about three areas of their pool deck that were sinking. The wife loved gardening but hated looking at the pool deck every time she was outside, and they’re older friends were concerned about tripping. Tired of dealing with the constant worry, they decided it was time to make a change.
Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the customers and inspected their pool deck. Kyle pointed out that the sinking was due to poor fill soils that created several voids beneath the surface. He showed the homeowners how our PolyLevel® System could lift and level the slabs and booked a repair date.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface to use as injection ports for our high-density polyurethane. Once injected, PolyLevel® expands beneath the concrete to lift the slab and compress any fill soils below. With the concrete back to an even grade, Kyle patched the holes with fresh concrete. For added protection, the customer’s also chose to seal the seams in the concrete with our NexusPro® Sealant.
The couple is thrilled with the work done by Canadian Concrete Leveling. They appreciate our honesty and work ethic and are looking forward to peace of mind during the pool season.
Backyard
The couple took pride in and did an amazing job upkeeping and landscaping their backyard, but there was nothing they could do themselves to fix the concrete
Sinking
As poor fil soils shifted and washed away the concrete no longer had support from beneath
Failed Repair
The customers had already had the seams of the concrete caulked, but this was only a temporary solution and didn't address the root of the problem
Pool Deck After
We lifted the slabs back to an even grade and ensured water would not pool and the tripping hazards would not return
Sealant
NexusPro® keeps water from seeping between the seams and is UV resistant
