Residential Photo Album: Water Washes Away Fill Soils and Creates Sinking Concrete in Markham, Ontario
Sometimes, things are out of our control, no matter how hard we try.
For a customer in Markham, Ontario, trying to control the sinking concrete around his home was a losing battle. Grass was starting to grow between the sinking slabs, and he was concerned someone would hurt themselves on the raised edges. His basement was a constant worry too since water was draining towards the home rather than away from it.
The frustrated homeowner reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Joe McColl. Joe completed a thorough inspection of the property and figured out what was causing the problem. Water had been slowly washing away fill soils for years, taking away the concrete’s support. Joe explained how our solution could repair the concrete without removing anything and seal the cracks and seams. The customer was thrilled he wouldn’t have to tear down his fence for heavy machinery, and a date was booked for the repair.
Foreman Bill McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes for injection ports. Through these holes, he installed our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane. As the solution is injected, it expands, lifting the concrete back to a level grade and filling the gaps created by water beneath. To keep water out and provide a finished look, Bill also covered the seams with our NexusPro® Sealant System.
The customer is in awe of how fast the job was completed. He thought he would have our crew at his home for days but was pleasantly surprised when he saw our team packing up before lunch.
