Residential Photo Album: "Magic Porch" Lifted Back to Safety in Etobicoke, Ontario
Some of us are lucky to have a front porch. They’re a great place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and are the perfect divider between your home and front yard.
A customer in Etobicoke, Ontario, has a lovely little front porch. The homeowner enjoys sitting out there and using the porch as the primary step to his home. In recent years, he’s noticed the porch sinking. He thought it was no big deal at first, but the settlement was turning into a hazard after a while.
Project Manager Joe McColl met with the client and inspected the front of his home. Joe explained that voids beneath concrete could lead to sinking. The customer was skeptical about using polyurethane to lift his porch, but Joe quickly put his mind at ease by showing him a video demonstrating our PolyLevel® System.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the installation process by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. He injected our high-density polyurethane beneath the concrete, where it expands. As the solution expands, it lifts the slab above and fills any gaps below. Kyle also used our NexusPro® Sealant System to seal the seams between the concrete. NexusPro® is UV-resistant and forms a flexible, watertight seal.
The homeowner is very happy that his front porch is safe again. He’s glad he didn’t put off the repair any longer and is bragging to his neighbours about his “magic porch.”
