Residential Photo Album: Sinking Front Entrance Creates Large Trip Hazard in Brampton, Ontario
Keeping your home in safe working order is a never-ending ordeal. Houses need almost constant maintenance to stay in great shape, but certain things are out of your control even then.
In Brampton, Ontario, a customer was dealing with sinking concrete around their front doorsteps. The entire walkway had settled over the years, and the homeowner was growing concerned about a family member or friend tripping.
He decided to reach out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Paul Mendell. Paul inspected the walkway, and determined poor fill soils led to a gap forming, causing the concrete to sink. He recommended our PolyLevel® System, which uses high-density polyurethane injections to lift and level concrete.
Foreman Mark Sealy started by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface to use as injection ports. Mark carefully lifted the slabs back to a level grade before sealing the seams with our NexusPro® Sealant. Exposed seams allow dirt and moisture to seep beneath concrete, but our NexusPro® Sealant provides a water-tight, UV-resistant seal.
The customer can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing his front entrance is safe again. He appreciates the hard work from Mark and the clear communication from Paul and our Production Department.
Steps Before
The steps and walkway were sinking in the same direction since they were both installed over the same fill soils
Steps After
We brought the steps back to a safe level grade and sealed the edge of the staircase to prevent water or dirt from getting in and expanding during the winter, preventing any new problems from occurring
Walkway Before
This large tripping hazard was in one of the most high-traffic areas of the property that the family uses every day
Walkway After
Not only did we remove the hazard, but now water won't pool in front of the steps and freeze during colder temperatures
Settlement
The customer was dealing with an almost two-inch lip to step over each day
