Residential Photo Album: Sinking Walkway Holds Up New Driveway in Toronto, Ontario
Renovations can be big or small but knowing where to draw the line to get the best bang for your buck is important.
A customer in Toronto, Ontario, was getting ready to have a new driveway poured. His old asphalt parking area had seen better days, but there were a few problems to deal with before the work started. The homeowner wanted to bring his walkway back to grade before the new pour, so he reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the customer and inspected the front walkway. Paul explained how our PolyLevel® System consisting of two-part polyurethane, mixes beneath the concrete to expand, lift and level the slab back to an even grade.
Foreman Bill McKeown injected the high-density polyurethane through the concrete to lift the walkway slabs back to the original pour height. Bill also ensured proper drainage was in place so rainwater would drain away from the home’s foundation.
When concrete shifts, it can cause stress cracks, which the customer had grown tired of living with. Bill sealed the cracks with our UV-resistant NexusPro® System, curing fast enough for the homeowner to use the area later that day.
The customer is happy that his walkways are where they should be, and he can have his driveway re-poured with peace of mind.
Drainage
One corner, in particular, was allowing water to pool and freeze during the winter
Trip Hazard
Trip hazards were hard to see in the walkway, but the customer said a few people had already stumbled
Walkway Before
The portion of the walkway that meets the driveway had settled several inches over the years
Walkway After
We lifted the slab and filled in any voids to prevent the issue from returning after the new driveway is installed
