Residential Photo Album: Concrete Repair Needed Prior to Home Sale in Whitby, Ontario
When you’re ready to sell your home and move onto something new, you do everything you can to get top dollar.
A couple in Whitby, Ontario, was getting ready to sell their home and retire. They wanted as much value as possible, so they knew they needed to fix their sinking concrete. Their front step and walkway settled over the years, creating a steep 12” grade and several trip hazards.
Foreman Kyle O’Brien met with the couple and inspected their front walkway. Kyle determined fill soil had washed away over time, creating a void that allowed the concrete to sink. He explained how we could lift the slabs using our expanding polyurethane system, PolyLevel®, and a date was booked for the repair.
Foreman Bill McKeown arrived first thing in the morning to start the repair. He drilled dime-sized holes in the surface to use as injection ports, patching the holes after he completed the repair. Bill carefully lifted the sinking slabs while ensuring the proper level and height. Once complete, he sealed any cracks with our UV-resistant NexusPro® Sealant.
The couple can’t believe that such a significant repair took place with virtually no disruption or excavating. They enjoyed seeing our system work firsthand and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Canadian Concrete Leveling to friends and family.
Front Step Before
Not only did this slab settle significantly but it was also leaning towards the driveway where water would drain
Settlement
The large step was no longer to grade after sinking for a number of years
Front Step After
Once the step was at the correct height, Bill sealed the seam between the concrete and the entrance
Walkway Before
Water was pooling and freezing here in the winter, making it a dangerous area to navigate during the colder months
Walkway After
With proper drainage in place, water no longer builds up along the walkway, and the trip hazard is gone
