Residential Photo Album: Basement in Pickering ON, Has Voids That Need To Be Filled
Do you feel that? It could be a void underneath your basement floor. In Pickering, Ontario, contractors renovating this home found that the basement's concrete flooring had a gap underneath. The homeowners were taken aback by the setback since it would cut into the timeline of the renovations, their budget, and they were very concerned about the floor collapsing within itself. The homeowners found Canadian Concrete Leveling to complete the work they were looking for. Our system is fast, non-invasive, quick curing, and affordable, so no added stress is needed. Our Project Manager, Kyle O'Brien, quoted our new clients our PolyLevel® injection system that would cover every square foot of the floor. We scheduled another day for our installation supervisor, Kyle McKeown, to come and begin the work to keep the timeline in check. He started by cutting out dime-sized holes that were on the outer edges of framed walls and that had the larger gaps underneath. From there, Kyle M. injected our high-density polyurethane into the ground. Our quick expanding material covered a lot of ground within minutes. The homeowners were very impressed with how speedy the levelling was installed. Thankfully, the timeline was not interrupted since the work was non-invasive and did not interfere with the contractor's framing.
The Size
A perspective on how much ground needs to be covered. The only work to get done is filing voids, then the renovations can continue.
The basement as a whole
There was a lot of ground to cover, or shall we say, a lot of ground to fill.
It's Deep
The settlement underneath is almost 8 inches deep. A lot of materials needed to bring this concrete back up to its original strength.
Filling it up
As you can see, the polyurethane expanding in the hole, pushing the floor up.
The Size
The holes had to be a tad bigger to inject as much polyurethane as possible. Smaller holes would only slow the process down.
All done
Now it is time to have concrete poured over. The hydrophobic poly filled every section of the basement.
