Residential Photo Album: Sinking Walkway is Dangeous for Elderly Homeowners, Brampton, ON
A front walkway leading to steps had started to sink and slope toward the driveway, which worried the homeowners. The folks who lived in the home happened to be elderly, and as the concrete started to sink each month, they made the step up onto the steps more challenging. The concrete walkway was well taken of, so replacing it all would be redundant. They wanted to find a solution to lift it back and stabilize it permanently; Canadian Concrete Leveling came to the rescue. Our Project Manager, Danny Dos Santos, visited the home for his in-depth inspection. From there, he noticed that the concrete had started to sink by quite a few inches, revealing the steps' underneath. Danny recommended our PolyLevel® Injection System lift all the sinking concrete and fill the voids permanently. With the help of our specialists, Jan Basto, and Russell VanderMeulen, the results were amazing:
First Look
Seems okay from this angle until you see the side profile
Second Look
You can see the walkway slanting now and the gap underneath the steps. With this not being treated, water will pool underneath the steps and cause more sinking.
Scope of work
The concrete was surrounded but another step down
After #1
You can see the slope evened out. The slope prior made it a slipping hazard during the icy months and was challenging to walk up
