Solution for a Sinking Walkway, Maple, ON

Concrete patio slabs are very susceptible to shifting or sinking over time. A home in Maple, ON had this problem with their front patio. Sinking concrete was creating trip hazards and the customer was worried the slabs would create larger gaps as individual slabs continued to separate between the patio and the walkway.

The homeowner made a call to Canadian Concrete Leveling and an appointment was set up with a Project Manager to talk about ways to fix the patio. The homeowner discovered that we could lift, level and stabilize the patio using our patented PolyLevel® Injection System.

Our installation team used PolyLevel to lift the slabs so they were level again – no more trip hazards. They also used NexusPro® after the concrete was lifted to seal the gaps between the slabs. It is specially engineered to stand up to harsh weather conditions – it won’t crack, bubble or dry. The homeowner was excited that it was safe to share the patio once again with family and friends.

Sinking Concrete Causes a Trip and Fall Accident at Shopping Centre in Toronto, Ontario

As any property manager knows, being in business is no easy task. Whether you manage an apartment building or a plaza, there’s a lot you have to be responsible for. Two of your biggest concerns are damage to one of your properties and the rare, unfortunate case of someone getting hurt.

For a property manager in Toronto, Ontario, sinking concrete not only led to necessary repairs, but it also caused a slip and fall accident. A plaza in Toronto was a popular stop for customers to visit stores, but a sinking sidewalk had caused numerous concrete pads to shift and crack.

After a customer tripped and fell, the plaza owner knew something had to be done to prevent this from happening again. He reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling in search of a solution.

Project Manager CJ Sharp met with the customer and showed him how our products would eliminate the problem while also preventing it from happening again. The customer was thrilled to learn how easy it was to rid himself of this issue, and he booked a date for the repairs.

Foreman Bill McKeown worked hard injecting our PolyLevel® System into a few different concrete slabs throughout the walkway. PolyLevel® is a high-density polymer that lifts concrete through several dime-sized injection sites. Our system also fills any voids present beneath the surface, protecting the concrete from future settlement.

The customer was so impressed with our solution that he brought us back the following year to repair a few different spots on the sidewalk. He is happy that he no longer needs to worry about his customers falling.

Concrete Sinking Before Building is Even Finished in Toronto, Ontario

There’s a lot that goes into building a home. It’s a huge undertaking, so when things go wrong, it can be a significant setback.

In Toronto, Ontario, a custom home builder was working on a home when he noticed something going wrong. The concrete back patio he had poured six months earlier was already starting to sink. The house wasn’t even through the building stage yet, so he knew he needed a long-term fix.

The builder reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Paul Mendell. He explained to Paul what happened and that he was surprised the concrete failed so quickly. Paul explained how and why concrete sinks and played a demonstration video of our PolyLevel® System. Bad fill material allowed a gap to form, causing the slab to sink. Our solution not only lifts the concrete but also compresses fill soils below. The customer was delighted to hear about such a unique solution and looked forward to seeing it for himself.

Foreman Kyle McKeown drilled several dime-sized holes in the concrete slab to inject our PolyLevel® System. As the high-density polyurethane is injected, it expands, lifting the slab and stabilizing substrates below.

The home builder couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched the concrete lift back to an even grade. He’s glad he didn’t need to repour the slab and knows who to call if he ever runs into this issue again.

Washout Creates Front Porch Skating Rink in Toronto, Ontario

After a hard day's work, the last thing you want when you come home is a constant reminder of your sinking front porch.

For a Toronto, Ontario customer, this was the frustrating reality. Her front porch had settled over two inches, creating a large step to cross when you walk through the front door. Ready for a change, she reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Paul Mendell.

Paul inspected the front of her home and determined soil had washed away from below the porch, creating a void. As time went on, the concrete's weight caused the large slab to sink down into the gap, making a trip hazard. Water would also pool in front of the door, creating a slippery pond each winter.

Foreman Kyle McKeown used our expanding polyurethane system, PolyLevel®, to lift the front porch back to a safe grade. PolyLevel® utilizes two unique polymers that mix during installation, creating a reaction that forces the concrete up.

The homeowner is delighted with the entire experience using Canadian Concrete Leveling. She saved a small fortune avoiding a new front porch, and her winter skating rink is finally gone.
