Why does concrete settle? It can happen from poor soil conditions. As the concrete compresses against the ground, it loosens the soil and over time the weight of the concrete forces it to settle. To permanently fix this issue our team at Canadian Concrete Leveling uses Polyurethane that compacts and compresses the loose soil under the slab and lifts, levels and stabilizes the concrete. This is how we solved our customer’s sidewalk repair in Mississauga, Ontario.
A patio slab holding an air conditioning unit had been sinking over a long period of time at a home in Mississauga, ON. The soil around the home was fairly loose when the patio was poured causing the weight of the air conditioner and concrete to sink in quite a few areas. The homeowner was worried the lines to the air conditioning unit would begin to bend and eventually be damaged.
The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling. Our Project Lead explained the process of our PolyLevel Injection System and how it could level the concrete. Billy McKeown, Foreman, injected polyurethane through dime-sized holes under the concrete to fill voids, lift and stabilize the slab.
The customer was very happy that we fixed the patio slab quickly and effectively so they could get their air conditioning unit up and running again.
In Mississauga, Ontario, a back patio and staircase had experienced significant settling to the point of not only revealing tripping hazards but exposing the home's foundation. The homeowners wanted to save the concrete without having to replace it or even pour more concrete on top. Since the slabs were in good condition, they searched for a company that could lift the concrete non-invasively, cost-effectively, and permanently.
After giving us a shout, an appointment was made with our Project Manager. He arrived at the home to provide an honest, and complete quote to the homeowners. They were impressed at how simple the project seemed to be and how the installation would not interrupt family members coming and going to the house. When work began, our Installation Specialist started by drilling dime-sized holes in the lowest concrete points where it was sinking the most. From there, he injected the slabs with our PolyLevel®, which fills voids under the concrete lifting it back to its original height. Once the leveling was done, it was time to seal the joints with our NexusPro® sealant – a material that is anti-cracking, chemical resistant, and permanent. The job took less than an hour, and the results were immaculate.
The main walkway for an apartment in Mississauga, Ontario had many trip hazards from the front of the building to the roadway. Multiple concrete slabs were sinking. Many other slabs were affected by tree roots growing under the concrete. The owner of the building wanted to get the walkway repaired as quickly as possible as it was becoming a very serious safety risk for everyone.
The owner contacted Canadian Concrete Leveling and our Project Lead suggested our PolyLevel Injection System. Billy McKeown and our installation team injected polyurethane through dime-sized holes made in the concrete to fill the voids under the slabs. The walkways were successfully lifted, leveled and stabilized.
The owner was very happy with how quickly and effectively our team was able to complete the job. All of the trip hazards were fixed along the walkway.
Cracks in walkways and sidewalks are not only visually unappealing, but they can be an indication of a much larger issue that is causing damage to the structure of the building. Water can seep down these cracks into the foundation of a home, forever shifting, heaving and cracking the concrete. Although happening slowly over the years, the cost of not fixing a problem like this one can be almost unfathomable to a homeowner. One customer in Mississauga wasn't going to wait until it was too late and decided to get their crack sealed and walkway repaired the right way with Canadian Concrete Leveling.
The customer met with Project Manager Danny Dos Santos, who quickly diagnosed the concerns of the homeowner. He came up with a custom solution guaranteed to eliminate their present issue and any fear or worry they may have had.
Foreman Kyle McKeown first levelled out the concrete using our patented PolyLevel® process by injecting high-density polyurethane into the concrete. Once the lift was completed and the concrete was level and set, Kyle used NexusPro® to seal any cracks off to the elements and colour match the sealant with the walkway. In the end, the walkway looked brand new. The customer is very relieved they no longer need to worry about long-term damage and repair costs to their home.
