Lifted Slab Caused Indoor Water Damage, Thornhill, ON
A home in Thornhill, Ontario, there was a problem in the basement along the front wall. There was a small amount of water causing the carpet under a desk to be wet. This happened during a very heavy rainfall. This was a result of concrete slabs at the entrance way to the building that had settled toward the home. Water flowed toward the home and made its way into the basement over the top of the foundation. The slabs were also a trip hazard. The house which was being used for a business was going to be sold and they didn’t want to pass along an issue to any buyer.  It could affect the resale value of the property as well as continue to cause damage to building materials.  The homeowner called Canadian Concrete Leveling to fix the issues before they worsened. Ron Monk inspected the area and explained everything that would be done. Billy McKeown and his team came in and used PolyLevel foam injections and NexusPro. The products were used to divert water away from the foundation and eliminate trip hazards and also to seal any joints where water could penetrate. NexusPro sealant was used to seal the joints to keep water out from indoors. The customer was satisfied because the house was ready to sell without issue.
Double Stair Sinking, Maple Ontario
Maple, Ontario, had two impressive concrete staircases, but both had similar issues regarding the top step. The top steps remained in their place but seemed to have been much larger compared to the rest. How can that be? The steps below it have settled, leaving the top piece up significantly. The concrete was in excellent condition and needed some lifting love to be looking great again.  Thankfully, the homeowners found Canadian Concrete Leveling at the top of their search results and knew we could provide the work they needed. Once the initial call to our call centre was made, we took action and sent one of our Project Managers, Joe McColl, to the home to provide the owners with a free detailed estimate. After a thorough inspection, Joe realized that small injections of our polyurethane would have to be done to the lowers steps, then progressing upwards. By doing this, the voids at the bottom will be filled to withstand the weight of the entire staircase. Once the inspection was complete, it was time for our installation supervisor to come in; Kyle McKeown. On a later day, Kyle arrived at the home and knew what he needed to do. He started by drilling tiny holes in the staircases and inserted pegs to attach our PolyLevel® system. Once the polyurethane machine is attached to the nozzle, it was time to feed the poly through and into the voids beneath the steps. With the quick expansion of the material, the steps lifted rapidly before the homeowner’s eyes. Once the levelling was done on both staircases, the sealant needed to be applied. Our NexusPro™ is a high-grade sealant that is waterproof, anti-cracking, and chemical resistant so that it can be protected against all elements. The adhesive was applied to the joints in the stairs so that the settlement won’t return. The process took under half an hour which baffled the owners, thinking that they would need to move their patio furniture, plants, and rugs out of the way all day. However, the curing process was almost immediate, and the cleanup was immaculate. Steps are back to normal!
Doing it Right on the Right Side of Town
Shifting and heaving concrete slabs are most commonly doing so because of some pressure pushing from underneath. Although not entirely very well known, frost heave is a common issue for any building in the Northern Hemisphere. Brutal, cold winter nights are to blame. Over time, small cracks at the joints and seams will slowly fail, allowing for moisture to seep down into the ground underneath. Due to the very nature of water and ice, when these moisture pockets freeze, thaw and repeat, it moves the earth around it. This earth has nowhere to go but up, pushing on the concrete from underneath. And since the concrete has nowhere to go either, it cracks, shifts and heaves, creating an off-level, hazardous unusable walkway. Unassuming guests and neighbours could now be the next potential victim of a fall.
America's Cold Harsh Hat
Over years and cold, harsh winters, concrete will inevitably fail and begin to shift from its original place. These slabs then exert more force on the surrounding concrete creating a ripple effect of damage and destruction. Untreated, the slabs will eventually pop and shift to an extreme degree and cause dips and lips to appear in the walkway; it opens the door for the potential for injury and lawsuits to any homeowner. Not only is it a safety concern but the overall long-term health of your home may be at stake. If you have any concerns regarding your home’s foundation, garage floor, or concrete walkways, don’t hesitate to call us for more information and to set up a client consultation with one of our highly qualified Project Managers.

We know how dangerous it is to have a trip hazard around your home. We wanted to make our clients feel safe again! Our client had a sloping walkway and sunken stairs, and they wanted it fixed. They decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling to solve the problem. Our Project Manager, Joe McColl, came up with the best solution for our clients that would repair the issues they had been having! Unsafe Patio Slab Fixed, Maple, ON
A home in Maple, Ontario, had a problem located at the front entrance of the home. The front patio and walkway had been sinking over the past few years leaving the area had various gaps and trip hazards in the concrete. When the concrete patio was poured the substrate was not properly compacted/compressed. Over time the weight of the concrete has further compressed the loose substrate leading to the sinking and cracking in the patio. The customer was concerned that the area would continue to settle and would make the area very unsafe to use. The customer was also worried that the slabs would begin to push apart making the problem harder to solve. The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling and spoke to John DiNicolantonio who explained everything about the job. Billy McKeown and the team came in and used our PolyLevel Foam System and NexusPro Joint Sealant. Our PolyLevel Foam System is injected beneath the concrete to lift and level the slabs. Our expanding foam compresses the substrate and then lifts the concrete, thus ensuring that the area is protected from further settlement. The NexusPro is installed post-lift to ensure that the area is further protected from water saturation. The customer was very satisfied that we were able to remove all of the trip hazards in the walkway. They were also very pleased that we sealed the gap that was forming between the patio and walkway as it was quite the eyesore.
Mending a Crack in Toronto, Ontario
This customer in Toronto, Ontario, was experiencing heaving in their garage floor. A large, significant crack was forming along the floor of their garage. Noticeably getting worse year by year, the crack had already shifted enough to create a 1-inch lip in the floor. An obvious tripping hazard and not one that you want in a garage where you store your belongings. Limiting access to their storage space and wreaking havoc on their peace of mind, the customer reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling for help. Installation Foreman Bill McKeown and his team arrived on the Jobsite and immediately began their meticulous process of releveling the concrete. After small holes are drilled down into the concrete, we inject our robust and patented material PolyLevel® underneath the concrete filling in the voids and then lifting the entire slab. After raising the slab 1 inch and making the garage accessible again, the customer was elated to have their space back.
Garage Floor Sinks 3 Inches in King City, ON
A new home in King City, ON, had its garage poured 1 year ago. In just over a year, the customer’s garage sunk over 3 inches! The issue with the concrete in the garage stemmed from poor compaction when the garage floor was originally poured. Since the soils around the house were still fairly loose when the floor was poured, the weight of the concrete compressed these soils leading to settlement in various areas.  The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling and spoke with our Call Centre. They were extremely concerned that the concrete would sink even further reaching the point where the concrete would need to be re-poured. They made an appointment with project lead, John DiNicolantonio to take a look. John measured the garage and the areas that had sunk and devised a plan to fix the problem permanently. Foreman, Billy McKeown went out and strategically drilled small dime-sized holes into the customer’s concrete. He then injected our patented PolyLevel™ foam underneath to lift and level the concrete. The expanding foam compresses the substrate and then lifts the concrete. This system ensures that the area is protected from further settlement. The customer was happy that Canadian Concrete Leveling was able to fix the issue without having to rip up and re-pour a new floor. They were extremely satisfied with the outcome and were also happy that the area is now warrantied for the next 10 years.
Concrete Walkway Repair in Markham, ON
Not many people may think about the struggles someone may have getting around on their own. Our customer in Markham, Ontario, had a mobility disability and struggled with using the front walkway of their home. The concrete slabs had settled creating trip hazards and forcing water to pool near the garage causing water damage. The primary concern was that the uneven concrete could cause serious injuries. Also, they were looking to sell the house in the near future and wanted it fixed.   After reaching out to Canadian Concrete Leveling an appointment was set up with System Design Specialist, Ron Monk. Ron recommended installing Polyurethane and NexusPro™ Sealant. The Polyurethane allows our team to lift and level settled concrete, the Polyurethane pushes down on the loose soils underneath and raises the slab eliminating trip hazards. The NexusPro™ Sealant is injected along the expanded joints and cracks to seal the concrete preventing water from seeping through.   Our customer is happy that the concrete is leveled and that our team has eliminated all the tripping hazards. The walkway is now safe and the home is ready to sell shortly.
Sunken Concrete Along a Home in Markham, ON
Our customer in Markham, Ontario, had a concern with a concrete slab located on the right side of their home. The slab had sunken near the house, directing rainwater towards the foundation. Our customer's concern was that the pooling water would lead to further damages. Also, on top of the slab sat a pool heater and a pump. Since the heater was sitting at an angle, the flame was not aiming where it was supposed to, resulting in damaging the heater.   Our customer knew to call Canadian Concrete Leveling, after previously having a job completed by our company. An appointment was then set up with Project Lead, Paul Mendell. Paul advised our customer about all the benefits Polyurethane would do to fix their issue. Kyle and Steve, injected our expanding Polyurethane under the concrete.   How does Polyurethane work? Polyurethane fills the voids underneath the slab, then lifts and stabilizes the concrete back to the original height.   Our customer was pleased with the job. The slab is now stabilized and ready for a new pool heater. Water is no longer directed towards the home giving our customer peace of mind that no future damage will occur.
