Sinking Pool Deck Puts Family at Risk in Brooklin, Ontario

A pool is typically a pretty popular area at a home. Everyone enjoys hopping in for a quick dip, and parents are used to supervising their kids for hours on end.

A family in Brooklin, Ontario, had a beautiful pool with a sinking pool deck. The concrete surrounding the pool was sinking and cracking, creating quite a tripping hazard. The family’s teenage kids used the pool regularly, and they were concerned about someone tripping. They were almost used to living with the eyesore but decided it was time to take care of it.

They reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Kyle O’Brien. Kyle inspected the concrete pool deck and showed the homeowners exactly how we would repair the concrete.

Foreman Bill McKeown used our PolyLevel® system to lift and level the concrete slabs. The high-density polyurethane expands beneath the concrete to compress the fill soils and lift the slabs, preventing the issue from returning.

The family is thrilled that their pool is safe again. Their kids can use the backyard without the parents worrying so much, and the ugly eyesore is finally gone.

Concrete Pool Deck Sinks Away from Wooden Patio in Whitby, Ontario

We all want our backyards to look great, and we put a lot of work to achieve this goal. When something gets in the way that’s out of our control, it can be understandably frustrating.

A homeowner in Whitby, Ontario, has a beautiful backyard with a pool and a wooden deck. The concrete around his pool used to sit flush with the deck, but over time, the slabs had settled. This created a dangerous and unsightly lip between the concrete and wood boards. Tired of looking at the hazard, the customer decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling.

Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the frustrated client and inspected his backyard. The customer was concerned the concrete and deck would have to be redone. To his surprise, Kyle showed him how we could lift and level the concrete in just a day’s work and with minimal disruption.

Eager to learn more, the customer asked what made our product stand out against our competitors.

Kyle explained that we use a system called PolyLevel®, which uses a combination of two different polymers. As these polymers are mixed beneath the concrete, they expand, lifting the slab and compressing fill soils below. PolyLevel® weighs less than 10% of the material weight the competition uses and cures in less than an hour.

Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface as injection ports. He injected our PolyLevel® System in a controlled manner, lifting the concrete back to a level grade with the deck.

The customer is very relieved that we could do the work without destroying half of his backyard, as other companies had proposed. His pool deck is secure and protected, and the risk of tripping has been eliminated.

Sinking Concrete Floor Threatens Ski Lift in The Blue Mountains, Ontario

Properly working equipment can make or break a business, especially when it’s seasonal. Even losing one day due to a power or equipment failure can cost thousands and leave customers with a bad taste.

A ski club owner in The Blue Mountains, Ontario, was concerned about losing the use of one of his lifts due to a concrete floor that had settled 2 inches. Beneath the floor was a conduit pipe that housed electrical cables and powered the ski lift, and the sinking floor was putting stress on the pipe. Not only could this cause a power outage, but it could also start a fire, shutting down the club and potentially hurting someone.

Wanting to deal with the situation before it caused an emergency, the owner reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling. Project Manager Joe McColl travelled to the ski club to meet with the customer for a free inspection. After checking out the building, it was clear to Joe that our PolyLevel® System could lift the concrete floor and remove the stress on the pipe.

Foreman Bill McKeown and Installation Specialist Mark Sealy started by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete, being careful not to hit the pipe. They injected our PolyLevel® Polymer beneath the floor, lifting and leveling it to the base of the wall. Any voids beneath the floor were also filled, stabilizing the concrete to prevent any future sinking.

The ski club owner is very pleased that there is no longer a risk of power failure or fire. His customers can rest assured knowing their day on the slopes won’t be impacted, and the customer is looking forward to a great winter in The Blue Mountains!

Stepping Into This Home Got A Little Difficult, Queensville ON

Stepping into your home is a breeze, but it was a challenge for this one. In Queensville, Ontario, these homeowners had a front walkway sink 2 inches causing pooling/ice and a larger step into the home. They heard of Canadian Concrete Leveling through one of their friends, who happened to be our clients. Without hesitation, they gave us a call, and we could schedule a day for our experienced Project Manager, Paul Mendell, to come to the home. After Paul arrived, he quoted them for our high-grade polyurethane injection system called PolyLevel®. This system is where we inject polyurethane into the concrete to fill voids underneath. From there, the material expands, which causes the concrete to lift back to its original building code. Once all the numbers were crunched, we had our installation specialist, Bill McKeown, arrived later. Bill started by drilling small holes into the concrete where the sinking happened. From there, he began injecting the polyurethane to lift and level the walkway. Finally, to seal everything off, he sued our high-grade, water-resistant, chemical-resistant sealer called NexusPro®. Once everything was said and done, the walkway looked good as new!

Sinking Pool Deck Puts a Stop to Family Fun in Whitby, Ontario

Watching kids grow from infant to toddler is an exciting time for any parent. Children are starting to find their sense of curiosity during this age, and love to explore everywhere they can.

For parents in Oshawa, Ontario, an unsafe pool deck forced them to bring a halt to their kid’s backyard adventures. A cracked and uneven pool deck was a huge tripping hazard for their little ones and was a sore spot when having company over. They take pride in their home and unfortunately, inherited the cracks when they purchased the house, not realizing it would be such an issue.

Tired of the embarrassment and looking to give some freedom back to their kids, they reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling.

Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the family at their home and inspected the pool deck. He recommended our PolyLevel® injection System to level the concrete slabs and our NexusPro® System to seal the cracks.

The customers booked a date for the repairs, and Foreman Kyle McKeown and Installation Specialist Mark Sealy completed the work. After a few minimally invasive injections to lift the concrete slabs and fill any voids, the tripping hazards were gone. The cracks were sealed, preventing moisture from getting beneath the concrete. Our sealant process also improves the aesthetic of the concrete significantly.

The customers are thrilled they can finally enjoy their pool without the hazards looming over them. Their sense of pride for their backyard has returned, and they’re happy to have friends and family over once again!
